Visiting Our Homestead and Studios

Visitors welcome - Our living spaces are available for friends of the family, some friends of friends and artists and novice homesteaders, with references . There is no charge for staying.

We are full time artist-gardeners. We do not entertain our guests except to go on a walk to show off the homestead, sit around an evening campfire or share a meal. You will find us busy most of the time - fixing, tending or making something. (We go to town about once a week) However, we love to have old friends and new friends visit – to explore, read, write, create, recharge. Think of your visit as a retreat for the artist in you. You are welcome to work in the garden or help with our projects but that is not expected, at all.

There is often fresh produce available most of the summer but bring food you like. You'll be 32 miles from the grocery store.

The guest house is open April 15th to October 15- depending a bit on the weather. Includes – double bead, Efficiency kitchen, half bath and outside shower.

The studio apartment is open year round and is heated with wood. Plan to do your own laundry and cooking. ( Double Bed and Two Singles ) - Full kitchen and bath.

There is plenty of room for tent camping.

We have an unlimited land line (domestic US that is) in the house but cell service is very limited. (one bar sometimes) We have 2 gigs of internet service that can be used during the day at our home. It is usable by only one person at a time.

Our gravel drive is two miles long. You must drive slowly and carefully with low clearance vehicles. SUVs and Trucks are better.

We have ticks and spiders and poisonous snakes as this is the country. Bring insect repellent.

We are one hour away from Greer's Ferry Lake, The Buffalo River National Park, Pedestal Rocks, Rock Pit Ranch, Richland Creek Recreation Area and the nearest grocery stores and gas stations.

It is one and a half to two hours to Blanchard Springs Cavern, Harrison, Russelville, Conway, Hurricane River Cave, Mountain View, Petit Jean State Park and Little Rock.

A three hour drive takes you to Fayettville, Chrystal Bridges, Branson, MO, Hot springs and Garvin Gardens.

Deer, birds and coyotes are a step out side your door!

Art Students pursuing formal training are welcome. (With references) We offer a residency for students working on independent projects off campus – perhaps taking time to prepare a body of work, for a show or portfolio. Call for details.

People contemplating a simple, rural life are also welcome. We have been “homesteading” for over 40 years and many of the skills needed can be learned here.

Please call ahead (Very Important) to arrange your visit and talk about details. Short or extended stays can be arranged. 870-496-2636
